Harry Seymour Ross was the fourth president of Emerson College, serving from 1933 to 1945. Like Southwick and Rolfe
before him, Ross had a long association with Emerson College prior to being named president, serving as
Dean of the College from 1908 to 1932. It was Ross who broadened the appeal of the College by supporting
the establishment of a course in radio announcing, and by restructuring the curriculum so that the Bachelor
of Arts degree could be offered. And it was during his tenure that the words, "of Oratory" were dropped
from the College's name. [84173]
