Boylston Green was the fifth president of Emerson College, serving from 1945 to 1949.
Green was the first person to become president without the benefit of any prior association
with the institution. He came to Emerson from Middlebury College, where he taught English
and served as Acting Dean of the Men's College. Under Green's leadership, Emerson's student
newspaper, The Berkeley Beacon began publication, a student activities fee was initiated and
the Department of Fine Arts was established. [8463]
