Allen Koenig was the 9th president of Emerson College, serving from 1979-1989. He came to Emerson
from the University of Southern California, where he served as Executive Director of the Idyllwild Campus
and the School of Music and the Arts. President Koenig made significant improvements in the campus
infrastructure, most notably in the automation of the College's administrative systems and in addressing
deferred maintenance of existing facilities and acquiring new properties to address the needs of Emerson's
growing student body. Ultimately, President Koenig will be remembered for his efforts to relocate the College.
The controversial plan to relocate Emerson to Lawrence, Massachusetts ultimately failed. [89184]
