Richard Chapin was the seventh president of Emerson College, serving from 1967 through 1975.
Chapin came to Emerson from Harvard, where he served as the Assistant Dean for Educational Planning
at the Graduate School for Business Administration. He brought experience with fund raising and labor
relations to the College. He also brought a sailor's steady hand to the rudder as Emerson navigated
the turbulent waters of student unrest in the 1960s. [9097]
