Finding Books in the Main Stacks

Once you’ve found a book in the library catalog, you’ll come to a screen like this:

This information tells you where the book is in the library.  It’s probably easier to read this number is you look at the call number like this :

The first two lines indicate the subject of the book.  Read the letter (or sometimes letters!) in alphabetical order.  Read the second line as whole numbers with decimals.
The third (and sometimes fourth) line, a combination of letter and numbers, often represents the author's last name.  Read it alphabetically, and read the numbers as decimals.
The last line indicates the year the book was published.  Read this line chronologically. 

Are the books on this shelf in order? Write down the correct order, e.g. D A B E G on the card.
